Alternator power cord

1999' Subaru legacy L, 2.2. Alternator power cord fried completely. How to replace? New wire? New connector? Can't find much help on forums. Found a generic post about it: http://forums.anandtech.com/archive/index.php/t-2162614.html Pretty similar problem. Replace alternator as well? Can't upload pic, says 2MB max, and mine was 1.8 MB and error on upload. Thanks, Tim
