I need help with tightening torques and sequence for SOHC camboxes on an EJ 2.5 motor in my 1999 Liberty RX 2.5. Also how to tighten the righthand cam pulley bolt without damaging the timing belt as this side of the motor has a solid pulley.

  1. Hi my name is Brenton and I have just joined this site. I want to find out the tightening torques and sequence for the SOHC camboxes on an EJ 2.5 motor. I am also after suggestions about the best way to tighten the camshaft pulley on the right side of the motor as it is a blank pulley and the only way I can figure to do it is by installing the cambelt putting the car in gear and the hand brake on. The problem with this is that the pulley tends to jump a couple of teeth on the belt which I don't expect is a good thing for the belt and then the belt has to be removed, realigned and tensioned again. Also I wanted to find out the sequence for resetting the valve clearances once I reinstall the rocker shafts and the timing belt? I had removed the rocker shafts to enable me to replace the valve stem seals without removing the heads. Can someone help me with these topics please?
