The seal with the meatla ring is the original seal NOK AE1032F and the other is suppose to be the replcement Timken 222050. It is quit obvios the its not the correct seal. Does anyone know the right part number for this seal? and where to get it? Any help is appriciated since i cant put the transmission back together till i find a new one.

i have the same problem with the seals and finding a sutible replacement, i was considering walking around a salvage yard till i find somthing close.

so i have put in a new alternator, new battery, new battery cables and purchased a new voltage regulator, after it was installed it seem fine until the vehicle is started at which point it begins to smoke. I put the old one back on and it works fine. is there a way to test them to see if the old one has already burt out what the new one seems to be working on burnin out. Or could they have given me the wrong one. The connectors are all the same just the internal look a little different but i thought maybe that would be just upadted.

i Live in Florida, found mine (1979 Brat) on criagslist in Arizona for $1000 and it runs and drives, cost me about $800 to ship it from there to FL

im going to assume that there are no oem replacment radiators avialable anymore for the first gen , if the are where. Has anyone found another radiator that is a good replacement. The one i have is repairable but might be a better idia to just find another that wil fit.

Was there once a winch in front? Might be a relay for that reason or ? My 78 wagon has the same relay. It was for a winch.
well somone stole the winch then . Thanks

That motor is a ea71. It should have ea71 milled on the block between where the block meets the head and the distributor.
Thats the odd part the vehicle has a EA71 in it and its stamped clear as day. This is an extra motor that was thrown in with the deal

I don't know what the first picture is. Doesn't look factory. Looks like a voltage regulator but your stock one is going to be over by the battery and has a circular connector. As for the motor, I'd wager it's an EA71. It should be stamped on the block, iirc either in the front or near the heads. May have to take the manifold off to see it.
yeah the voltage reg is on the other side. looks like a relay of some sort and seems to have no use since the engine runs and everything seems to work

I had the same issue and had a dirty switch, dirty fuses, AND blown bulbs on my 4 headlight GL.
If you want 4 headlights I have the buckets/brackets and grille...
i have the grill, guy i got it from gave me three extra and one was the 4 headlight, i would just need the buckets and brackets but havnt decided which looks better
-
sweet thanks i might try swithching to four since it came with a GL grill but might look funny with the cutout under the light. Would it matter if i had the wrong plug attached to the light?
-
i purchased a 79 Brat about a month ago and im a little confused on the healights. It has the two headlight grill and they work on low beam but not high beam. What is strange is that there is four headlight plugs but only two healights. are these the wrong headlights. the grill seems stock since it matches the the headlight cutout in the body below it and the four headlight design is stright across.
