"The Red Beam" a name earned through it's demonstration of power, and striking appearance, especially when in motion. A 1999 Subaru Legacy L 30th Anniversary Edition at heart, with performance, longevity, and comfort based modifications. A 2.2L naturally aspirated engine with an automatic 4 speed transmission. I bought this car from a chop shop in Portland, Oregon, and basically the engine and the wheels worked. A short list of repairs since purchase/rescue: Driver window motor and glass replacement Head gasket done Coil pack replaced New plugs/wires Reman alternator New battery Starter Kill …

Hi there I,ve been racing for a few years now with my old 1989 Xsi Honda integra fitted with a integra type R motor, adjustable suspension and slick tyres. And she goes pretty good and reliable. The classes I race in have a time brake out, which I've managed to run to as I've got better and improved the car. But in the last 2 years the brake out time has dropped 3 seconds. Which doesn't sound like a lot but it is for my car. I could turbo or super charge it, but then your looking at some serious money to keep it reliable. Now the other car in my class are things like, RX7 turbo and na Mitzi turbo Volvo turbo V8 mustang with big power 6 cylinder cars (similar s…

Aquired this and plan to get back to original, might motor covert it later down the track....definatly want to track down a twin headlight front rather than the quad... but we will see what happens, have found a 2nd one, unsure if its for sale, need to do some digging on that still. Needs a fair bit of rust done, have started stripping it, currently have gutted the interior, and full loom etc, only have motor and glass to remove

Thought I'd make a thread for my new Subaru. Gertie has the honour of being the second L series touring wagon I've owned. She was named by the previous owner, and is a 1989 NZ new Subaru Omega GL touring wagon, 5 speed dual-range. My first was an NZ new 1987 Leone GTX Turbo, 3AT pt4wd. Unfortunately she rusted out back in 2014, terminal firewall cancer. Since then I've had a Forester, a Vitara and I currently also own an r50 JDM Nissan Terrano. I saw this car in person several months ago, and strongly considered asking the owner if they'd be willing to sell. When it popped up on Facebook marketplace at an extremely reasonable price, I had to buy it, especially…

Finally. Fine-all-LEE. I snagged one. 😁 I mean, I'm in South Central Pennsylvania, and I've been looking for a brat within my budget for almost 10 years. Everything I'd come across was either too far gone; Or just way too expensive ( >10k!) Then it finally happened and, in my usual casual browsing of Face-space market world, I came across the BRAT in the lead picture. The price was good. I had a really nice 96 Brighton I built up over the last 3 or so years, and I listed it on marketplace to fund my pipe dream. It sold in 3 days. On day 4 I was out my door at 4:30 in the morning and on the road in my 1st gen legacy wagon with a dolly i…

I had bought this 135k mile d/r wagon in 2007 for $800 from the 2nd owner. It had the usual oil leak, TOD, etc & sun baked plastic dash parts typical of a SW car that hasn't been garaged much of its life. Did the usual maintenance for the first 3 yrs including clutch, tires, tuneup. Joined USMB & aspired to build it into a light duty ORV. So I added a 4" SJR lift, new struts & mounts, 6 lug conversion including rear disc brakes, R160 plate clutch LSD, 14x6 Mazda PU whls with 27x8.50x14 Grabbers. In lieu of the stock brake hoses I opted for -3 braided SS/teflon lines, which I've built for some of my other vehicles before. A nearby hardware store is a Earls s…

While I was considering a post in the Meet n' Greet, I figured this would be more appropriate. This is pretty close to what I started with (pic from 2019, I wish I still had earlier pics). My (daily) car is a 97 Impreza Coupe, with some previous driver-side body damage that was repaired poorly. At this point, I had replaced the driver's fender and swapped out the old 5-spoke wheels to some pulled from a Legacy (I'm pretty sure these are junkyard tires in the pic). The previous owner had added some aftermarket intake and filter that I removed and replaced with stock parts. (Also not pictured was some fog lights that were attached through the license plate holes.) …

I've been bit. I love these little wagons. Rust killed my first one, so I bought another broken Loyale, and I'm trying to Frankenstein together the best little Loyale I can get. I was too excited to take pictures of the wagon when I first got it home, so the best I've got is this little video My wife made after I pulled it into the driveway. You can see my son and I are already at work dissasembling it... https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6i58VwuP_d/?igsh=cG9rY2IxZmZuMWg5 The car had been wrecked, but the front end on my old one is still in pretty good shape so I figured I'd just swap the body panels over and call it good, But I guess I can't do things the easy wa…

"I'm El_Freddo, and this is my Brumby Story:" Ok, time I "came clean" about the Redback Brumby. This is how I picked her up about two years ago. AFAIK I'm the third owner: The previous owner was a bit of a talker/player. I went out to check her out as a bit of a tease for me, it was local enough for the drive - I've always wanted a targa top since Sunnie the Brumby that we got for my mother inlaw. I would've loved a blue one but beggers can't be choosers. The owner said a fella was coming up from Melbourne that weekend so I bid him good luck, he was asking too much for my liking. 6 weeks later it was still there so I made an offer - he still played a hard ca…

Well I have been roo less for a while now and the itch just wouldn't go away, no matter how many shot of penicillin I got. So I went ahead an bought a pile of roo for a few hundred dollars. Talkeetna is an ugly as hell 85 ea82 GL wagon. 5 speed dual range manual everything, even steering. though it has power mirrors... Sadly I dont have any pics of it right now. but I do have a pic of a previous parts donor. this was an 88 xt6. it was a project that didnt work out, the rust was just way too bad. so I pulled all the 5 lug parts and scrapped it. When I had the xt6 I bought a bunch of parts. a bunch. and I have just been sitting on these …

Alert! Alert! Another 1st Gen wagon saved. Though this is a post facelift model, she deserves some love. Older gent owned her since the late 90s, he passed on. Family friend drove the car and blew it up. Sat for a year and was given to me free of charge. Dropped an engine in it, threw new pads and rotors at it (front and rear), new radiator, replaced the ball joints, in the middle of tinting all the rear glass yet. The 4 speed auto operates in limp mode more often than not and I'm fairly certain it's a faulty TCM. The interior is a little dirty but it's pristine. With a good steam vac the interior will look new again. …

Well, I have just test driven, and agreed to purchase, this fine example of an early 1984 build 3ed gen JDM Leone sedan. It is the top spec trim, and has digital dash, trip meter, cruise control, air con, and was fitted with the height adjustable suspension (now removed). Trans is 3at auto with part time 4wd. It also has a sweet water to air intercooler setup fitted by the current owner. Drives very well. Pulls harder than my old turbo wagon, with the intercooler. All the electrics work. Best bit? Only 129,000 kms since new. Only issue is leaky sump gasket. Hopefully will collect next week once WOF and rego done. Here's a teaser pic... …

Its been a long time since I posted anything here on my RX. Its been sitting for almost 5yrs after blowing a HG and during that process, it overheated and blew coolant all over my chest and face. So I parked it 5yrs ago, that'll teach it I had another EJ22T sitting on a stand that I was going to build for another project, but I figured I could work on that one while the old engine stayed in the RX. I did pull it earlier this year and pulled the RX out of my storage area so I could have better access for working on stuff that I want to do. The engine is basically done and ready to go in, not sure if I want to drop it in now and drive it (I'm jonesing for boost) but if its…

Cats outta the bag! I am the mysterious new owner of user tincan's 1993 5 speed FWD Loyale, the aptly named "Tin Can". Long story short, I happened to be perusing the boards here when he posted a classified ad for the car which I saw pop up under the recent threads section. Literally AS I WAS SENDING HIM A PM about the car, I got a text on my phone, from him (we had exchanged numbers previously) asking me if I wanted to buy it! So I went out the NY and checked it out and it's just what I need to replace my GL and the price was right. Here is a photo tincan took shortly after he got the car; After some time he decided he did not like the dated appearance the side moul…

I recently joined the group and thought I would share some pics of my 78 BRAT. I bought the beast in 2008 with 85k miles on it. (It still has 85k miles on it) Due to working on a ton of other peoples projects, mine has been slow progress. I will start off by showing you all the truck I originally bought.
