    I am the original owner, the oil is changed religiously every 3000 miles and I trust my mechanic. Thanks for your suggestions. I appreciate your advice.

    I will check with my mechanic re: the timing belt. Could it be causing the problem?

    When I first start the car, the CEL goes on until I give it gas; then it goes off right away and doesn't come back on.

    There's no predicting when it will happen. I've tried to cause it by stopping short and by easing to a stop. Any advice appreciated.
