  1. Taking the bulb out sounds like major surgery. Any links to a "how to"? I'm up in Piscataquis County, and the nearest Autozone is in Belfast. Maine's not that big compared to Western states, but it's very large compared to the rest of New England. I wouldn't doubt that the light is to force me to go see the dealer for some scheduled service. I'm hoping (of course) to get out of this without paying an arm or a leg...
  2. 1999 Forester -- the CEL has been on for months. I know, I need to find the problem it's referring to (no autozone within a 100 miles), but I need it to go off for a least a few hours. Pulled the battery cables for an hour, and it comes right back on. Is there a fuse I could pull, or some way to temporarily make it go away? Thanks!
  3. I have a '99 Forester, and a mechanic *welded* the ABS sensor in place, in the course of replacing my wheel bearings. The dealer wants $700.00 to fix this. I just want the light to go away. Let's say the first mechanic is unwilling to fix his mistake, and let's say I'm old and don't care that much about the ABS working (I'm so old that scolding me won't change my wrinkled mind at this point, BTW): how do I get that flipping light to go off (without using a hammer)? The manual doesn't indicate that there's a fuse I could pull (though 14 is suspiciously unlabeled). Is $700.00 too much (includes 4 hours labor @ $65/hr), and how do I get that light off?
