I have a '99 Forester, and a mechanic *welded* the ABS sensor in place, in the course of replacing my wheel bearings.
The dealer wants $700.00 to fix this. I just want the light to go away.
Let's say the first mechanic is unwilling to fix his mistake, and let's say I'm old and don't care that much about the ABS working (I'm so old that scolding me won't change my wrinkled mind at this point, BTW): how do I get that flipping light to go off (without using a hammer)?
The manual doesn't indicate that there's a fuse I could pull (though 14 is suspiciously unlabeled).
Is $700.00 too much (includes 4 hours labor @ $65/hr), and how do I get that light off?
