Ok maybe not so much lazy but fear of not being able to get the damn thing put back together. It is an old car with rusty sticky bolts. I heard it could be a *************** to get the outer shaft out of the hub and then even more so to get it back in. Then while I had it all a part I mite as well change the brakes and bearings. Just trying to save my self a little time, money, and hart ache. And who wouldn't take the easier faster way if the end results were the same?

So If I cut it I have to take the pin out of the part that holds it to the tranny and then that part can be removed. Then can I just pull the shaft out of the outer end Or is there a clip or somthing that will hold it. The car makes a bad knocking sound when I take right hand turns and the pass. side cv boot is in two pices. I am going to prabable cut that one and take it out to see if the noise stops if not the other one will come out also.

Yeah I know I can do it like that but I am lazy and was wondering if I can just some how cut the shaft in Half and take it off the tranny and then some how get the shaft off the the cv with out taking it out of the hub then taking it apart and then having to put it back together again.

I want to convert my 92 Loyal wagon into RWD because my cv's are shot I was wondering If I could remove one (that is all I would have to remove right?) With out going threw all the work of taking apart every thing. Could I saw-all the shaft and take off the boots and pull out the joints? I don't need or really want 4x4 until next winter and then I will put in two new axles? Has any one done this before or will the joint not come apart that easy?

Is the key number a 4 didget number. The key is a subaru key. And under the logo it has a 4 didget number is that the right one? Thanks

I did a very stupid thing the other day. I broke my key in to two pieces. Not that bad hey just get the spare right? Well If I wasn't a total moron I would have a spare but I am lazy and didn't get around to making one. In the Owners manual it says something about a Key number Is that the 4 digit number on the key under the Subaru logo? If I take this number and the broken key and maybe my title to the Subaru dealer will they be able to make me a key or will it have to be ordered. I am going to try and solder it back together and make a copy but i am not sure if that will work. Any other suggestions.

Well I bought a 92 Loyal 4x4 wagon last month for $750. I was in good shape but i don't know when the timing belts were changed last. So today it finally wormed up and I had time so i took a peak and they look band new! Not a single crack no sings of wear what so ever. I am so happy because that is the only reason I haven't been driving it too much. (only 300 miles and most of that was having fun in the parking lots ) Now all i have to do is get a radio dash kit so my cd player isn't just sitting there. Get new tire (the ones on it are in good shape but different sizes) And replace the broken parking lamp houses. Man I am so happy I thought I was going to have to pay some one to change them because I don't have a garage and it is too cold out to mess with them right now. I am going for a drive!

well I did it! He let it go for $750. You know i for got all about the timeing belts but it is running great. It has the push button 4wd My last one had the dual range. But the body is in alot better shape than my last one. (88 gl 4x4 wagon) and the inside is damn near spotless. The check engine light is on I will have to check into that. The 4wd works great all ready took it threw my brothers yard with around 7 inches of snow It has great tires and a brand new battery. it needs both cornerlights housing and it has a little rust one the pass front fender. And the hood latch is sticking alittle. But man it fells nice to be in a subie again!

I am going to go Look at a 92 Subaru Loyale 4X4 wagon tomarrow! It has 176,000 miles and they want 850 for it I am going to offer 700. I have wanted an other subaru since my 88 GL 4x4 wangon died. Man this is going to be nice. We just got about 2 feet of snow an i might be in an other subaru this winter!!! Man i can't wait.
