  1. Hello all, I've researched as much as I can and can't find anything conclusive that might solve my problem. My high-mileage 2005 Subaru Outback 2.5i has started making a noise. So far, at low speeds I'm getting a low-pitched "whine" that sounds as if it is coming from right underneath the e-brake handle. There is a mild vibration that corresponds with this noise. It also appears to be somewhat intermittent, like it'll cut in and out. It doesn't seem to be associated with braking. There also seems to be a grinding noise coming from the front-passenger wheel area (almost sounds like brakes, but it grinds while not braking). I know that CV axle is going out, it clicks on the turns. Are these related? Any thoughts? TL;DR: Vibration and low-pitch whine under e-brake handle unassociated with braking.
