I found my way here searching for information on an issue my car started having about 10 days ago... I have a '93 Legacy L, FWD
The engine stalls completely intermittently, usually 1-3 times a day, at any speed, any time, any engine temp. It's stalled on the highway many times, while parking, or before even driving it, or while driving at 30-40mph speeds on back roads. Every time it stalls, I turn the car off completely (cutting all power) and when I crank it again, it starts without any problems. If I try to restart it without turning the power off, it usually revs up and stalls again. When it restarts, the power light blinks 16 times. I ran the transmission diagnostic test mentioned in another thread and got error codes 23, 32, and 33 (Enginve revolution signal, Vehicle speed sensor 1, and Vehicle speed sensor 2, respectively) from the stored memory, however I don't know how to interpret these.
I tried fuel system cleaner and dry gas to no avail when it first started happening. I'm beginning to wonder if it's a fault in the ECM, or something else electrical. The car doesn't seem to idle rough, and when I restart it, it runs absolutely fine, and as far as I can tell I have no loss of power. When it stalls, it feels like I lose tension on the accelerator pedal and the car just slows gradually until it stops and all the wonderful lights come on (engine, battery, etc.).
Any suggestions?
