My friends, good news. I had the battery tested and it came out good. While I was at the auto parts store I spoke with a mechanic who told me to check all my fuses. I did and it was main one! The 100 amp fuse that powers the alt, the battery and the other fuses. It was broken. Bought it and voila! We're back on the road. By the way, what do you think of belt dressing? Good idea or no?

I replaced the alt and a/c. I disconnected nothing. I loosened some stuff: the alternator. But I retightened it when I adjusted the tightener bolt. I'll try your suggestion. Thanks.

HI Everyone, My first time to post. 2002 Outback Wagon with a 2.5L engine. 4 cyl. My belts shredded so had to replace them. But the car won't start now. Replaced the battery. Still won't. I only get 2 functions from the battery: the dinging sound with the key in the ignition and I can lock and unlock the doors with the functions on the door. But my remote won't work, and the interior lights don't come on. Everything is charged up. A mystery. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Bri
