  1. Ok. Appreciate your help. I bought a pos micrometer when engine was apart and measured all the shims so I would know what to order after measuring valve clearances, ordered all the shims I needed, installed and half of the clearances were off because I had the wrong shim measurements to begin with. Very frustrating. I don't have the proper tool to compress the bucket to remove shim. How do I get shims out? Thanks
  2. Thanks for the information. I will re-measure after start up. Now that it's all put together and under the hood, I suppose adjusting will be a bit more frustrating.
  3. Hello, I just rebuilt 1998 subaru legacy outback dohc and am in process of adjusting valves. Does anyone know what the +/- limits are? Haynes doesn't mention. I have the bucket with shim type. I purchased wrong size shims and after all adjusting, I have 3 intakes that have clearance of .006. Do I need to get these closer to .008 with new shims? Also, half of my exhausts measure out at .009. Is this OK? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
