  1. I am not an expert in anyway, but when I was tearing my shifter apart, there is a switch to release your key. That is my guess on what you are hearing.
  2. First order of business on our 1997 Impreza wagon is the shifter. Someone has gutted the shifter assembly. It will shift into all gears freely whether started or not, brake applied or not. This is not safe while doing her route, one shift of a paper bundle and WHAM! she's in reverse. Not good. My question is, will a Legacy shifter assembly work? A local scrape yard has one, but is not sure if they cross. I opened ours up and there are several pieces missing, more parts then I think are cost effective to try replacing. I will have many more questions coming, but I will start with this. Thanks.
  3. Good morning, my name is Reproman aka Brian. I found this forum while searching out questions about my wife's new car. It's a 1997 Impreza wagon. We bought it for her to use for her paper route. Subarus came highly recommended for this purpose. It is a fun little car. I'm sure I will be hanging out here quite a bit.
