  1. Thank you for confirming what I thought was correct, and thank your for the gear ratios. Much appreciated.
  2. Hi, I'm new to this forum, and I need to ask this question because I recently picked up a 98 Legacy Outback Wagon with an automatic transmission. I believe that it is a 4 speed transmission (at least that is what I am reading from the specs), but my question relates to the engine RPMs. What is the approximate RPMs for the speed (MPH) ranges for each gear? The reason that I am asking this question is because I own other cars (a bit newer) and neither one of those (which are not Subaru's) are running at about 2200 RPMs at 65 MPH. I have notice that in the Outback wagon, that it runs about 500-700 RPMs higher at 65 MPH. I'm sure that this is ok due to the higher gear ratios, but I just want to be sure that nothing is wrong. The Outback has standard size tires and appears to otherwise run great. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, and I apologize if this question has already been answered. Thank you.
