  1. I have a '90 Brat with an EA 81 that loose oil. There are no leaks. When applying throttle after going downhill with power off, theres a blue sky behind me from the exhaust. Could this be bad valve stem seals? or is it more probable that it is caused by the PCV system? Anybody who has a clue of which part? What is the most common cause of burning (not leaking) oil on the EA 81? I'm happy for any replies . subbus
  2. Thank you very much! I will see to it as soon as possible! Subbus
  3. How do I know if a rear wheel bearing is shot/worn out? Is it supposed to be as tight as a front wheel bearing (i.e. no play up/down or side to side whatsoever)? When I jack up the vehicle and jiggle the wheel I feel play... The play is also present when jiggeling the drum with the wheel off. If I use force with my hands and the car is on it's wheels on the ground there is also some play. The 36mm centre nut is firmly tighted. Any comments welcome Subbus
  4. Thank you McBrat, useful to know what cars to look for.
  5. I am a Norwegian kid new to USMB and Soobies in general. I have just bought a '90 Brat with a number of technical issues. This site looks good and informative and I look forward to using it in repairing/upgrading my car. For now, I have the following Q's in this forum: 1. My right rear wheel bearing and rear right shock absorber are worn out. Is there any other model of Subaru that use the same parts? Which? I know some people running a small junk yard and I would like to replace the whole rear hub (where the bearings are seated) if I can find a good one. 2. Can I use front or rear CV joints from any other model of Subaru on my '90 Brat? 3. Can I use front or rear brake parts (e.g. callipers, rear drums or shoes, etc.) from any other model of Subaru? Thankful for any replies.
