  1. Finally got some free time to change the fuel filter. But I'm stuck again. The hoses just wont let go of the old fuel filter. It's like the plastic has bonded to the filter or something. And if I should get them off, getting them onto the new filter seems even worse. Is there any trick to it, like heating them with some warm water?
  2. Ok. Changed the coil, only real difference is that it's harder to start now. My orig. coil was probably a 9V one that gets 12V when I start to create a more powerful spark, then the resistor makes it 9V when the engine is on. That's no big deal, it still starts with little fuss. However, it did not make my problem go away I hadn't replaced the fuel filter afterall, I bought it, but never got around to changing it. Where excactly is the fuel filter located in an 87 Justy? Is it hard to change?
  3. Thanks for the replies. I did find a generic 12v coil for about $20, so will try that tomorrow. It seems to be about the same shape and size, but it's lacking a resistor or something that's on my original coil. Will let you know how it goes. oh, and it's carbed .
  4. Hi. I have a justy/trendy 1.0 which I've had for 4 years. It's been great until now, but lately it's started behaving badly. It runs fine for a while after I start it, maybe 5 mins, then starts jumping. Also the rpm counter is going nuts, jumping all over the place. At first I thought the wire for the rpm counter was broken, but it works fine as long as the car itself is running without problems. I've tried changing the plugs, air filter, rotor, distr. cap, fuel filter. I was going to change the coil, but couldn't find a suitable one without having to import one, which is expensive. It's winter now where i live (northern norway), but its been everywhere from +5 to -10 degrees celcius, and I haven't noticed any change in the behavior of car during this time. It's still the same 5 mins before it starts jumping. I'm seriously thinking about just giving up on the old thing and buying a new car, but it's been so fantastic the 4 years I've had it. Any hints would be apreciated. I've seen others with similar problems, but not the rpm counter spasms, which is what's really throwing me off.
