  1. HI "The Dude". Thanks for the repley. By the way, what is a "The 4EAT transmission"? Would it be considerably cheaper? I'm thinking of getting it towed out of the "sacrificial Lamb slaughterhouse" dealer and to a transmission place. Thanks again. Could it be something other than a transmission? They are going to check it tomorrow. I just asumed it was a transmission. It paused before moving when I put it in drive. Today, it was in drive, I stopped at a light... light turned green, hit the gas...car no move. Finally, after a few attempts, it engaged into drive and I got to the dealer. Thanks again for the relpley.
  2. Hi all. My 1999 outback stopped going into drive today. It was hesitating when I went from park or reverse to drive for a few seconds. But today, it was in drive, I stopped at a light and it would not go forward. After many attempts it finally moved forward and I drove to a sub dealer that was luckily right across the street! The guy there said that this dealer didn't do trans work but he knew someone who did. Then he said it would be 3-4 THOUSAND DOLLARS for a rebuilt trans! That seems a little high, doesn't it? Anyone know what a rebuilt transmission should be?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank!!
