  1. I would suspect the cv joint myself, hubs normally make a sound at normal travel speeds and kinda get quiet into a turn the start up again, i have had several bad hub bearing and they all acted the same.

Just started this morning...a loud clunking noise from the wheel. I've had a strange buzzing noise since I bought the car a few months ago. CVs are brand new. I'm suspecting a wheel bearing. Clunking goes away under load or at fast highway speeds (50+mph) but clunks like mad when slowing down to stop. How safe is this thing to drive? What damage could be done by driving it this way to the garage? JY wants $75 for a hub so I'd rather not go that way. Also how far back in years was the same hub part used? I'm thinking late 80's, but don't know. Thank you!
  2. thanks for the answers from all of you guys out there. the turbo is working at this point but it's hard to find replacement parts in my neck of the woods and I and asking about the turbo as a just in case thing. my check engine light is on and I have not been able to read a code yet, I have checked out the code guide here in the site, one time the light is on while driving and the next time it's off. I cant figure it out, the oil is full , antifreeze is full, all wires hooked up, and the engine seems to run fine but i do have an oil leak on the left side top of the head as you look into the engine bay, it seems to come from around where you fill the oil (bottom of fill tube) but i don't see it leaking there, it's not leaking on the bottom of the head. maybe I have a vac leak or seal issue?

    Thanks, Tony

Even silly questions deserve an answer.

The answer is not so silly though because it depends on the turbo's problem.

    1) if the turbo is locked up, it will present a major restriction in the passage of exhaust and intake air.

    2) If the turbo has major seal leakage, the fluid leaking will cause a labyrinth of problems.

    3) if the turbo is not making pressure but still spinning - the car will be a toad but can be driven.

Hope this helps, it was not a silly question BTW
