  1. I go 15k on Mobil 1. I live in the deep South where it's 100 deg. in Summer. I have never had a problem with an engine (car or motorcycle) doing this. Mobil made the claim many years ago that synthetic oil would hold up that long. My brother, a mechanic, ran his van over 200k without changing oil ever. He only changed the filter and topped it up every 25k just to see what would happen. He sold it to a friend and it's still going with over 300k. Unless you drive in a high dust/dirt environment you aren't going to "wear out" your synthetic oil that quickly. That 3000 mile oil change was for old style oil when we used leaded gas.
  2. Thanks but I did that already. The manual was no help. It appears Subaru is attempting to to integrate a self driving system under the guise of "safety". Although it might be a good idea since about half the people on the road are texting. I assume other manufacturers are doing the same. I still prefer to drive the car myself without interference from installed devices.
  3. I tried that. It still effects the cruise control and puts a big NO EYESIGHT on the dash display. What I am looking for is information about a reprogram/upgrade to the 2016 software. If that is possible on a 2015. I could ask a dealer but it would probably be a waste of words.
  4. I have a 2015 Outback 3.6R. The lane departure warning is defaulted to on every time the car is started. I understand that the 2016 model will remain off until it is turned back on with the dash switch. Is there a way to update the 2015 model? It really is annoying. I tried removing the fuse but the cruise control won't work like that.
  5. Does anyone know if it is possible to permanently turn off the lane departure warning on a 2015 Outback? The button below the steering column does it but it comes back on after the car is turned off and restarted. I understand on the 2016 Outback it stays off until one turns it back on. It really annoys me to do it every time I start the car.
