  1. Thank-you Suzam and Nipper for the information.......I will be buying the new pump. As of yet were not sure as of yet if we will be keeping the car. When it runs it runs great!
  2. I'm having trouble with my 1996 Subaru Legacy, 2.2 engine, with 200,000 miles. There is a leak coming from the right side of the water pump. When the engine is running it becomes a steady drip. I have tried everything I can think of - I've installed a factory gasket, I've made my own gasket and put sealent on it. I don't see any cracks on the block or the pump. The pump has been on the car for 4000 miles. Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated. Also, we are planning on buying a new Subaru Forester next month. Any thoughts or advice? Thanks in advance.
  3. I have a 1996 Legacy Station Wagon with a 185,000 miles on it. I have the left front half shaft off, and was wondering how difficult it would be to change the wheel bearing? Is it necessary to remove the stearing knuckle assembly? Any assistance would be much appreciated...... Thanks in advance )
  4. I have a 96 Legacy wagon with a keyless entry. I just finnished changing my timing belt, when I reconected the battery the hazard lights flash. Due to a house fire and living in a camper for 4 months, I have lost/misplaced my keyless entry remotes. Can someone tell me how to stop the flashing without the remote? I can not find any information regarding this matter in the owners manual or my repair manual. Also, I am planning to change the fuel pump, anyone have any helpful hints? Thankz in advance.
  5. My 96' Legacy station wagon with a 182,000 miles is having starting problems. In the begining it would intermittently not start after driving for 30 miles or so. After being hauled home it would start ok. Then it might work good for two to three week's. The engine code (as diagnosed by Schuck's) indicated the Crankshaft positioning sensor problem. Now it will stall at stop lights (again intermittently) and is difficult to restart: Is the crankshaft positioning sensor prone to failure? Exactly, where is it located? My Chilton Manual states the timing belt need's to be removed, but the Schuck's expert said that no it didn' t need to be. What exactly is the procedure for removel? Should I replace anything else while I am in there? Working on Subaru's is new to me, I was raised working on Chevy's of the 40's and 50's but I never found a crankshaft sensor on the old Chevy's. Thank's for any information on this matter. Does anyone happen to know a similar web site for Toyota Tercels?
