  1. Its a failed flasher. The flasher is solid state, so it needs power to operate. If its a failed bulb, you would blink twice as fast.

    Things to check

Are the blinkers working outside the car?

    Does the 4 way flash?

    Is the fuse good?

It's going to be a dealer item since they rarely go bad.

On a legacy its near the fuse panel on the lefthand side under the dash. A Dealer should be able to help you find it.

No blinkers on the outside. No 4-ways and fuse looks good. I can hear the relay click under the dash when I hit the switch but that is all I get. :(

  2. Hi All-

I was hoping somebody could help me with a turn signal/hazard problem. Both stopped working. I get no dash indicator either. When I hit the turn signal switch or the hazard switch, I hear a single click under the dash but no lights. Is it the flasher unit?

If so, can anybody tell me where under the dash it is located? Also, I have called AutoZone and my local auto parts store. Neither one has it listed. Is it a dealer only part?

    Thanks in advance!

  3. Hey all-

For the past couple of days I've had what seems to be clutch problem with my 99 OB Imp Wagon.

After my girlfriend "rocked the the car back and forth for a little while to get it out of the snow" the clutch seems to be slipping in higher gears. I really don't notice it in 1st or 2nd but when I'm up in 5th, I can sometimes hit the gas, the rpms rise pretty high but the car doesn't go any faster. Kinda feels like driving on ice. Do I need a new clutch???? Any advice would be great.

    Thanks!

  4. I have decided to get a set of NGK plugs. They seem to be the ones most highly recommended. I was just wondering if anybody new the real difference in performance and life between something like the GP Platinums which are under $3 a plug and something like the Double Platinums or the Iridiums which are about $12 a plug. Obviously the more expensive ones would be a bit nicer but does anyone out there have any real world experience using these plugs and notice much of a difference?

  5. Anybody know what the average rate would be for the replacement of a timing belt in my 98 Impreza Outback Sport 2.2 from the dealer? I just bought the car with 80k and I don't know if it was ever replaced so I really want it done. Also, should I get anything else taken care of while they are in there?

By the way, I love this car and I am quickly becoming a die-hard Subaru fan. Till now I was a strictly Chevy man but this car as made me have a big change of heart. :brow:

  6. Hi all. I'm a newbie to this board and have just purchased a 98 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport 2.2 and have a few questions:

1-Is this engine prone to the oil seal leaks that I have heard about? If so, is there anything I can do to prevent this?

2-I have read somewhere else in this board that I shouldn’t use synthetic oil, is this really so?

3-Anybody know where I can get parts online for cheap? I need a set or rotors and pads.

4-I have also read about that annoying knocking sound when the engine has not warmed up yet. Needless to say I have that problem. Anyone ever find an answer for that?

Thank in advance for all the help!!!
