A/c ?
superclock replied to superclock's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXHave you had the car since it was new?

A/c ?
I just had the refrigerant refilled on my '97 Legacy GT. It needed 2lbs. The A/C still doesn't blow really cold and on really hot days it just can't overcome the heat. Is there another component that may not be working properly? I hear the clutch engage when I turn on the A/C.

Legacy GT Performance recs?
superclock replied to jjouet's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI am by no means an expert - but I can speak from my experience with performance mods for my '96 Legacy GT. I have an Injen RD cold air intake, Borla headers, and cat-back performance exhaust. I started with the intake and that definitely created more noise under hard acceleration. There was a noticeable increase in power, not stunning, but noticeable. The header gave it a different tone and made it a bit louder during idle and hard acceleration. I "think" I noticed an improvement with the header! The cat-back exhaust made it even louder and made a slight improvement in power, I think. There's probably a synergistic effect combining the header and the exhaust. I don't have a high-flow cat, but I've been told those are REALLY loud. I do a lot of highway driving and have recorded better gas mileage, to the tune of 5 more mpg. Sometimes I think that I should have just saved the money on the mods for a down payment on a better performing vehicle. I firmly believe that in order to have a daily driver that performs well (speaking Subaru) it needs to be turbocharged. An interesting site is www.i-speedusa.com. They do engine swaps for Subaru's.

Engine swap curiosity . . .
Would a WRX engine fit easily into a '96 Legacy GT? I only ask because when I daydream of having a turbo it seems like an entire engine is cheaper to buy.

I've got . . .
. . . a mint, non-smoker cloth interior from a 1996 Legacy GT sedan I'm trying to get rid of. I'm in the Denver area, so if anyone is interested drop me a line.

Can I swap seats?
superclock replied to powderhound's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI'm selling the entire interior (front and back seats) from a 1996 Legacy GT sedan. The rear seat won't fit your wagon, but the front seats will drop right in. They are in near perfect condition. Let me know if you're interested.

KYB GR-2 rough ride!!

'97 Legacy Air Intake
superclock replied to Brigander21's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXActually, the Legacy GT has the EJ25. I know they make intake kits for the EJ22. When you get the intake kit, check the contents very carefully. Mine came without the MAF sensor billet adapter. Injen had to mail one to me separately. Also, the Injen has a bracket attached to the main intake tube that didn't fit anywhere on my manifold. It looks like it is supposed to be mounted where the plug wire loom is mounted, but it's way off. It doesn't make any noise, so no problems so far.

'97 Legacy Air Intake
superclock replied to Brigander21's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI put an Injen RD on my '96 Legacy GT and it made a difference. It also made it louder at full throttle.

KYB GR-2 rough ride!!
superclock replied to superclock's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMaybe I got really used to the squishy ride. I'll give it some time and see. Are there aftermarket springs available that help with ride comfort? I put 2003 WRX wheels on my '96 Legacy GT. They look good. I got them on ebay for a great price. I'm about to add front and rear strut tower braces as well as a rear anti-sway bar.

KYB GR-2 rough ride!!
I just got KYB GR-2 struts on my '96 Legacy GT. The original struts were toast and I read lots of reviews of the GR-2's which said they made the ride better. It's too rough on my bum! I was thinking about getting the Monroe Sensa-trac, but I want to make sure I'm not making another bad decision. Help???

superclock replied to ssweb's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI just got some leather seats from a '98 legacy and they dropped right in to my '96 Legacy GT. I definitely think the leather seats are more comfortable and supportive.

Putting power seat into non-power seat Legacy
I am curious how difficult it would be to put a 2001 Legacy power seat into a 1996 non-power seat Legacy GT. Is the wiring difficult? It should just drop right in, correct? Please help! Thanks!

Weird trans issue?
superclock replied to superclock's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThanks for the responses. If it is the solenoid (torque bind issue)would that get worse when the a/c is engaged? I'm curious only because the car is under an extended warranty and I don't want the car stealership to attempt a hosejob. The car is a '96 and only has 45,000 miles on it. One fella at the stealership tried to tell me it was a timing issue. Unbelievable.

Weird trans issue?
superclock replied to superclock's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIt's an auto. Thanks for replying, though. Anybody else have any ideas?

Weird trans issue?
I have a '96 Legacy GT and it has been having the bucking problem in slow tight turns. It gets considerably worse when the A/C is on. Could it be a timing issue instead of a trans issue? Puzzled.
