[88 GL-10 Bogs down when accelerator is pressed]

Define getting on it hard. A quick push of the gas pedal and it quits or dogs out could be the accellerator plunger on the carb. Now bing new to this car, I don't know if yours is fuel injected. Next, if you romp on it hard for several seconds, then it dogs out, clogged fuel filter.

 

It is fuel injected and it bogs down when pressing the accelerator hard. You can mash it SLOWLY and the RPMs will come up but anything other than slow will cause it to bog down and die.

did you plug the vacuum line that originally went from the intake manifold to the transmission modulator?

 

I looked at the original engine and made the vacuum configuration the same. I spoke with my brother and he thinks it may be fuel related. I will replace the fuel filter, check the fuel lines for kinks and if someone knows where the fuel/air mixture module is and can tell me, that would be greatly appreciated!

I recently made an engine swap from an automatic transmission to a 4WD manual. The engine starts and runs but cuts out if you get on it hard. I have checked the vacuum lines and as far as I can tell they are hooked up right. Is there something electronic I need off the old engine that was attached to the manual transmission? What else could be causing this?

When I bought this car the tranny had a leak and we were pretty religous about maintaining the fluid level. I noticed early that it didn't like to shift and seemed to like 3rd gear most of the time. Currently the car will not shift into reverese and it acts like it is still in gear when in park. Press on the gas in park and the engine is under load, shift into reverse or anything else and the car wants to move forward.

I'd say swap the engine into the 4WD car, along with a few tidbits of the GL-10 interior. What year and model is the car with the dead engine?

 

From what I know so far the 4 wd drive car is also an 88 GL10. I do not know what tranny it has in it at this point. I have been e-mailing the seller and haven't seen it yet.

[New to Subaru/88 GL10 engine swap]

I recently bought an 88 2wd GL 10 for my daughter. Unfortunately she burned up the tranny. I am considering buying a parts car that has a tired engine and is 4wd. Should I consider a tranny swap or an engine swap? Are the bell housings compatable for 2 and 4 wd's?
