  1. AVCS Active Valve Control System Setup

    Reassembling a 2006 Outback EJ25 SOHC head. Need to know more about the setup of the AVCS mechanism. Document directs to remove bolts "i" and "j" during removal of rocker assembly. Why remove bolts???? Did so dutifully on one head and did not on the other. Subaru dealer mechanic said he does not remove them. Upon reassembly all parts appear to be correct to each other. Document shows using a tool to set the spring stopper. Don't think my parts ever got out of engagement. Is there any adjustment needed to make sure that the clamping on the shaft when re-torqueing those bolts? 18 Valve Rocker Assembly.pdf
