  1. My buddy just bought an 86 xt turbo. The owner said it needed a new alternator. We hooked the car up to my battery w/ jumper cables and it fired up to see if it ran well, it started first try, but as soon as we unhooked the car from my battery it sputtered out and died. We tried giving it some gas to see if we could keep it running w/out jumpers. This caused a power surge that seemed to turn on all of the electrical components, e.g. wipers, head lights, dash brightened, it was crazy. Anyways he put a new alternator in it and it won't start now. A fuse labeled engine control, or something like that, burns out every time the key is turned into the "on" position. Car is getting spark. Any ideas? thanks
  2. my xt turbo was doing the same thing, I would give it gas and there was nothing for a few seconds. I replaced the throttle position sensor and the problem went away. Adjusting the tps may also help.
  3. I have used nail polish remover, takes it right off and doesn't damage paint.
  4. in a sort of related question, my 4wd light doesn't go on when I hit the button, it's not the fuse, have a digi dash, any ideas, thanks
  5. awesome thanks for all the tips everyone
  6. Hey everyone, i have got a problem that maybe you could help me figure out. I just installed and intercooler and manual boost controller on my 86 xt turbo. I turned the boost to 9-10 and I gave it a try. The thing is way faster but quickly I ran into a problem. When I give it a lot of gas and it reaches full boost after a second of fast acceleration the power suddenly cuts out, feels like a major hose was blown off or something, but then it returns to idle and is completely normal, no loose hose fittings. Boost gauge and air/fuel gauge read nothing out of the ordinary. Am I somehow reaching the fuel cut limit? I know people are running more boost than this without problems, any ideas? thanks a lot
