They are great cars.  I have a 2000 OBS, auto.

Manual transmissions are easy if it needs one, but with the low mileage I'd doubt it.

Timing Belt and Seals if they have not been done.  Change the fluids...basic maintenance and  you are on the road.

Update on the car I was very off. He said about 180,000 miles.

how long has it sat? what mileage is on the car? why was it parked? AT or MT?

As far as I know it's been occasionally used. I can post a more accurate response this evening when I speak with him, but I believe he said 40k-80k miles. The reason he stopped using it as much is he purchased a new car that he likes better, and doesn't really need two cars. And as for the last question, MT.

  3. So first off, let me start off by saying, I know practically nothing about this car, past the very basics. I've been wanting a Subaru for a long time now though. One of my coworkers heard that I was searching for an affordable Subaru. He told me he had a 2003 Impreza that was basically just taking up space in his garage, that he's trying to get rid of. He said the only thing that may need to be fixed or replaced is the transmission, and he estimated that it would be around two grand to fix. That aside there's no damage to the car from what I know of aside from a small dent (I'll be taking someone with me who knows what they're doing when I check it out). With this information is this a good deal for a 2003 impreza? I've tried searching around but I could find nothing less than 6-10,000 for one.
