    i've done that now but only got to the third one which stop the fan. sound good but before when ever i touched the fuse box lightly the fan stopped so now i need to wait till it's running again to check and be sure i have the right one. i guess the fan doesn't start till the engine is warm enough and needs cooling. thanks for the help.

    98 outback...when cooling fan comes on it won't shut off and we end up with a dead battery. if i just touch to fuse box under the hood fan shuts off. is it a realy and if so which one. they are numbered 1 to 4.
