  1. My '82 GL is having some kind of problem with the electronics in its distributor. I can be driving along for 30 mins. sometimes only 15 mins and she'll start misfiring and the tach starts jumping all over the place. Finally she'll just stall. I've narrowed it down to the electronics in the distributor overheating because if I take my distributor cap off and place an icepack (I know it sounds crazy) on the insides for about 30 seconds she'll start right up, and take me about another five miles before she overheats again. I've been told that you can't replace the electronics alone and that I'll have to replace the whole distributor. I've priced them at about $170. Do I have any other options other than a used one of course?
  2. I was adjusting my valves on my '82 GL last week. When I tookthe plugs out I noticed that #1 didn't take many turns to get out. When I finished the job and went to put it back in I found out why. Its xthreaded. This car only has 73K on it and I only paid $400 for it. Not sure how long the previous owner had been running it this way. Am I screwed? How easy are those sleeve kits to fix it? Anyone done it recently? Thanks for the help.
  3. Hello everyone. New Subaru owner here. I'm lovin' it. Got an '82 GL for $400 and it only has 73,000 original miles. I think it needs a valve adjustment though. Can anyone tell me for certain when and in what motors they started using the hydraulic lifters?
