  1. I have a 2001 LL Bean Outback Wagon. Is it possible to adjust its tuning so that it has better acceleration at low speeds, ie., from a stop or onto the highway? When I step on it, there is a slight delay. I want instant g-forces! I am comparing it to a 6-cyl Chevy Malibu (2005) I recently rented. It was quite a performer, with no delay in pickup. However, I think the Subaru 6-cyl has more horses (granted, the Chevy is lighter). Thanks for any help or ideas.
  2. Thanks -- I'll check. Would the diode bridge noise occur at all rpms or only at 70-80mph rpms?
  3. I just bought a 2001 Subaru LL Bean w/ 64K miles. Very nice ride, overall, though I have noticed two weird noises. First, when accelerating at highway speeds -- 70-80mph (with stereo OFF) -- I hear a high frequency noise that sounds electrical, ie., I think it's too high a frequency to be the tranny or the engine. Then when I take my foot off the accelerator and coast through 65-60mph, I hear a vibration from somewhere up front, sounding a bit like a rattle or a mechanical resonance. Neither noise seems to affect performance, though I wonder about long-term negative effects. Any others out there have the same experience? If so, any insight into causes and solutions (besides turning the stereo back up)?

Note that the two sounds are different in frequency (a whirr vs. a rattle).
