  1. Hi.if the steering goes tight for 1/2 a turn each way it sounds to me like the universal joint on the steering column has worn.
  2. Hi guys and girls am new to this site.Came across this site whilst searching for info..Here is my story(sorry if a bit long winded). Brought an '89 legacy for £50(ukp) due to the seller thinking that the head gasket had gone. The sump contained about 8 litres of oil/water mix,big misfire on left bank but the coolant was untouched????????? Drained the sump, replaced the sparkplugs and cleaned the air pipes out. Car runs great after initally smoking cos of the oil/water mix that found its way down the exhaust.Appears the owner filled the sump with water !!!!! The suspension was playing up (pneumatic system)in that it wouldn't lower to its correct position. But after carrying out a search on this fantastic forum the fault was traced to the "air discharge solenoid valve"that had a broken wire. Thanks must go to the people who take the trouble to post answers and information to questions asked on this site. The amount of knowledge and information here is far greater than you could find at any dealers. Thanks people and keep up the good work...........
