  1. I really hate to say it, but here it goes. It sounds exactly like the same symptoms my '98 2.5GT was having and it was the head gasket. I was fortunate enough to get 200K+ out of my factory head gasket. fuki
  2. This happens when the engine is warm or cold
  3. Thank you for your advice. I have been back to the mechanic and still we are not able to make the clacking noise come back on command. Can a belt tensioner make that noise?
  4. Just had the head gasket replaced on my 1998 Legacy GT and now has very loud clacking/rattling sound coming from the engine. I had the car towed to back to mechanic and now they claim they cannot get the car to repeat the same noise. Does anybody know what the noise could be? Thanks in advance
  5. Excellent thought, never thought about a break in attempt. The car was sitting in front of the house unlocked. I was just 20 feet away inside the house and we live in a pretty good neighborhood also. I think I will have to have the car towed and the ignition switch replaced and have the dealership check for something stuck in the switch. Thanks, Craig
  6. Has anybody had any problems with the iginition key not turning? I have a 98 Legacy GT and can put the ignition key in and just cannot get the key to turn. I have tried to turn the wheel a little left and right and still cannot get the key to turn? Suppose it's a broken ignition switch? Thanks
