can any one provide me any info or link to make conversion to 5-speed for my 1981 brat? thanks.

send a Private Message to Bratsrus1 here on the board... He makes a kit that will allow you to bolt in a 5 speed with little to no modification... Even uses the stock levers inside.

I did a 5 speed in my 85, thats a 2nd gen though so it was easier.

Does it need the ea82 flywheel?

 

I'm about to do a 5 speed conversion - I've bought the box etc but not the flywheel as of yet.

thanks to all who posted suggestions and offered help. Proceeded with conversion with the help of local friend who is expert in things subaru. Pls know the info provided did move this project forward and to get it done.
