Knocking noise from rear of engine

Hi Guys.

 

My 1990 DL wagon is starting to make some strange knocking noises from the rear of the engine block or maybe the start of the gearbox (that general region).

 

I know its not the normal EA82 lifter ticking because I used to have that issue and it was a very distinct sound but this is different.

 

The problem only seems to occur when I start the car and the engine is warm. it goes away after around 200 yards of driving.

 

It doesn't seem to be too much of an issue, just curious as to whats causing it.
