86 Hatch Ignition Problem

Featured Replies

Ok - now that I said thanks for the last help - got another one.

My ignitiion has never been problem free - you put the key in about 3/4 of the way and kind of jiggle it to get it to start.

But a couple days ago it has really gotten bad - wouldn't even turn. Put WD-40 in there and that did help some. However, I have days that it takes me a couple minutes playing with the key in the ignition before I get it to start. And sometimes - when you actually get all the way in the start position it doesn't even make a noise - like no spark. And so I keep playing with it and eventually it starts. Probably a real good anti-theft device as floortom (Ken) can't even get the car started with the key.

But advice please - should we get a new ignition from a Subaru dealer(?) or what?

Thanks in advance.

Lynn
