Newbie here looking at a 79

Featured Replies

Figured I should sign up here. I currently own a 1990 Toyota Supra Turbo but may soon be owning a 1979 Subaru DL. Not sure on the status of it other than the fact that it ran when it was parked. The price is very right(free) especially if it will start up. I will be finding out more about this car in about 2 weeks as its in my hometown and i'm away at school. As far as I know its a FWD 5speed.

Anyone got any advice on some things to look for when I go to try and get it started?

Welcome aboard. Yeah, you did the right thing signing on here--this is the best thing going for Subarus (and the nuts that own them)!!!

As for your new '79 just use your "car common sense." Check all the fluids, check brakes and tires, steering. Take it easy and make sure it feels safe before you hit the road.

Good luck--and ask lotsa' questions!
