Was looking for information about subaru in general. Maybe someone can clue me in about this question.

If someone wanted to build a trike (rear wheel drive) with a subaru engine and automatic transmission what would be the best and easyiest of the subarus to use.

Hahaha nice idea.... I think I remember seeing old VeeDub engines dropped into trikes.

Probably the simplest would be one of the older carb fed engines...

I don't know about the tranny/ RWD setup. I'm sure some of the gurus here will have some thoughts.

Welcome!!

a FWD 5spd! but the orientation would be like that of a mid engine, opposite of a VW. unless you can flip the diff to rotate the other way

Hi, thanks for reply to my question, are there any soobs with a automatic trans and rear wheel drive? I have a vw trike at present but would entertain the idea of a rear wheel drive with automatic. I know almost nothing about subaru cars. It justs looks like the older ones would be easy to work on like the vw. And using one would put the weight of the trike more centered unlike the vw rear engine. thanks again.

if you built the trile from a subaru rear suspension, the fwd trans will fit between the axles as if it were the rear diff
