So, let's say I drove around in my beetle-( EA81 ) engine for let's say 20-30 min at 70-80MPH with the egr outlet on the head wide open. I am running dual carbs with custom intake manifolds and this area was plugged, but the plug came out sometime on my trip tonight. I will try to start the car up tommorrow after work, but I just want to know if this could have caused any damage.

Nah. Your motor probably ran like absolute crap but i doubt you did anything to it. You just had a massive vacuum leak.
