My 96 Liberty AWD sedan is in the panel shop having a new front guard and bumper installed after an incident with a truck, the panel beater is being a good guy and said he would put whatever bumper i want on the car (one with the spoiler).

 

The problem is, subaru are telling him that only the standard bumper fits.

Is this correct, will a heritage or a Legacy GT bumper fit, i know that the liberty heritage has the spoiler, at least in 97/98 (still Gen2).

 

I also have airbags, does this make a difference?

Why there would be any difference in the fit is beyond me. Then again, stranger things have happened w/ auto manufacturers. How intact is your old bumper? I would get the new one you want, and compare the two for mount positions and fits. They can't be horribly different. Hope this helps out.
