Speedometer gone buggy!

As of last week, my speedometer has begun reading about twice as fast as I am actually going. However, it doesn't do it every time I drive the car. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with a speedometer having problems? If so any suggestions? My baby is a 1988 model 4wd GL hatchback, MT, 1800cc, born in Oct 1987. Help!!

:banana: Try pulling out the inner speedo cable. Clean it and lube it with some light grease or speedo lube.

They sometimes wind-up and then when they let go it makes the speedo jump.
