July 10, 201015 yr Hello everyone I'm new to this site, its been helpful so far. I became a Suby fan when i bought my legacy. Just glad that I'm part of the family now. Take it easy people
July 11, 201015 yr Hi, blass. Welcome to the family! Very helpful, friendly place this. Are you in Puerto Rico? Many Subarus on the island?
July 11, 201015 yr Author Yeah you be surprise, a lot of newer models. Its a lot of fun driving down here bc there is a lot of mountains and the beach is near too. Is a trip living down here. The only con is that i have the older model, and there is not a lot of mechanics that are willing to work with suby's bc to most mechanics is a rare car, but when you own one you start noticing them
July 11, 201015 yr Mountains, beaches--sounds a lot like where I live!!! The great thing about your older Subie is that it has one of the best engines Subaru ever built, the EJ22. And it's laid out so nicely under the hood that they're relatively easy to work on. If you get into it a bit you won't even need a mechanic!
July 11, 201015 yr Author Where do you live?? Cali? I have been reading a lot about my car and i bought a Haynes manual. its an interest of mine to be able to fix everything my self and i did notice that the engine is lay out in a simple way. Thanks for the advice i did not know it was a ej22, bc i have not encounter problems with the engine yet (meaning i have not read a lot about it, since I've been reading about my tranny). I hope it stays that way
July 11, 201015 yr No, I live in Hawaii (see the "HI" after the city in my ID? BTW, it would be good for you to add "PR" after "Mayaguez" so people know where you are.) Good for you--keep reading and learning about your car! Haynes is a handy reference to have available. Another fantastic resource is the "Search" function here on the USMB--learn how to use "Advanced Search" you can find practically anything with it. And of course, ask questions when you need to. Don't wait 'til you have engine problems to learn about it. Good preventive maintenance can keep most problems from ever happening! Good luck, the early Legacies are wonderful machines!
July 11, 201015 yr Welcome to the family Blass! Looks like your already getting along great with one of the family members! Olnick is definately one of the greatest on here! . Kick off your shoes and relax a while!
