rxleone
Hey guys, started a thread the other day (that can be seen here) about my possible head gasket failure. I don't think it is that anymore - went to go and buy a radiator, got home, turned it off and left it for about 2 minutes... Then came back outside to this: Pretty big leak from the left hand (US Passenger, JDM Driver) side of the radiator. Split side tank, I'm sure of it. Anyways, going to throw the new rad in tonight or tomorrow, and see if that doesn't clear the problem up. Then I realised I haven't even shown you guys the car. Picked it up last week, 236,000km on the clock, purrs beautifully. As you can see, it needs a new front bumper, rear bumper, and possibly front left fender. I've cracked into cutting-and-polishing it, and I've done the bonnet and the front left door and fender so far. I did a test patch on the heavily oxidised boot. Check out the difference!! Just waiting for a decent day to get the rest done. So far on the list of things to do; - RADIATOR! DONE! - Fuel Tank Sender fluctuates wildly and drops to zero consistently depending on how much gas you have in there. Gonna pull those suckers and inspect. - New bumpers, one fender, and get a red reflective garnish for the boot (I hate it looking so bare with just the number plate on!!) - New CV boots on the two front axles. All pretty shot. - Fix the annoying rattle (think it might be heatshields) DONE! - Give it a good clean inside and out, including the underbody and engine bay. Then one day maybe I'll get a nice large-bore exhaust for it, a slight lowering and some bigger 17 or 18 inch mags. Will look sweet. Legacy777
Yeah it is very common for the end tanks to crack there due to the hot coolant coming out of the engine and hitting the plastic end tank. I replaced my radiator a couple years back due to the same problem.

I replaced my radiator a couple years back due to the same problem. Yup, replaced it and took care of all the bubbles. Also found out what the rattle was - three tiny pieces of gravel making one hell of a racket inside the catalytic converter shielding. Took them out and it's good as gold.
