August 24, 201015 yr Hello, i rly need to know if the EJ18(SOHC) Valve springs are the same of the EJ20(SOHC) , and is someone have the EJ18 Manual to know how much lbs the EJ18 Valve springs hold, because i have an Impreza 1.8 16v Base model 4x4 with 100k miles and i need to know if i will have to change the valve springs, ty everyone for the attention and sry for my bad english...
August 24, 201015 yr Valve springs are the same for all the Phase I SOHC EJ16E, EJ18E, EJ20E and EJ22E from 1989 right to 1998 (introduction of Phase II EJ181, EJ201 etc).

August 27, 201015 yr Author Valve spring rate is 31 N/mm or 179 lb/in. ty vry much for ur help man, do u have any manual of any EJ18 SOHC engine? , i have many subarus Workshops Manuals but none is of the EJ18 , ty again...
August 28, 201015 yr There is one for the first generation Legacy online somewhere, it describes the EJ22E SOHC and that engine is identical to yours except the displacement and cam specs. All other info like torques etcetera is the same.
