well Im thinking that i loved the tranny in my friends 99 outback impreza sport and i thought that car had a 2.2l so thats my vote... any pros and cons to this tranny. will i have issues with an tranny from a 2.5.. so ive lost 4th gear 3rd is not great and first second making a mild grinding noise.. the car is a 97 legacy awd 170 k miles 5speed manual. any advice on cable/ hydro clutch and best years to use is also helpfull. thank you, and I hope to be able to give back to this forum in the years to come.

Not sure where you live, but the earlier JDM STi RA 5-speed close-ratio box is a beauty.

If you loved the 5-speed I would put in another one. What really maters is what you like.

It depends on what you use the car for. My answer is an STI 6-speed until I know the car's intended use and your budget.
