FOUR cables on a D/R??-solved

Featured Replies

OK... so... I was at the yard pulling parts for my auto to 5sp D/R swap today, and I found something that surprised me... 4 cables?? I have a positive ID on three- the speedo, clutch, and hill holder cables. The fourth attaches to a firmly bolted on bracket on the left upper side of the trans, almost directly above the axle stub- and this bracket does not move AT ALL. I traced the cable and it goes into the firewall under and to the left of the brake booster. The donor car is an 89 GL coupe, nonturbo. Any ideas?

I didn't end up getting the cable, so I sure hope it's not critical to this swap.

Problem solved-

It was the clutch cable.

I didn't realize it snaked around before hitting the fork. I had already gotten a clutch cable from another car along with the pedal box, and I had just pulled the cable out of the fork on the donor trans. Then when the tranny dropped, the cable snagged on that bracket, and I assumed it was an extra cable I forgot to unhook.
