P1100 & Push Button Starter

Featured Replies

I have an EJ22 '95 Legacy L wagon that I installed a push button starter in. That works great!!

However I got a P1100 CE Code. I have read that is apart of the IG switch. I live in Ca and need to smog my car. So how do I fix this code and still keep the push button since that is the only was I can start the car now??

Thanks Team*

There's a wire that runs from the ignition switch to the ECU that tells it when the starter is engaged. You might just need to hook that wire up to your push button to get it to go away.

Did you run all new wiring for the button when you installed it? Battery to button, button to starter?

PIgtail off of your new wire near the starter. PUt a Male spade on the wire, and hook the original starter wire to that. This will backfeed the circuit with the 12V it expects to see when starter is engaged.

Without this you may have hard starting in cold weather. The ECU wants to know when the starter is running, so it can give a rich fuel mixture for starting.

Sounds about right for the hard starting.

I did run a wire from +battery to push button to starter solenoid.

I will look into the pig tails off the male starter solenoid for the feed back.

Will keep you posted.

Thanks-
