Stumbled across someone selling a straight pipe for dirt cheap . I drive a 2000 Forester 2.5 MT and this straight pipe is from a 97 Legacy GT. I am wondering if it will fit my car. I want to now if it will work before I get my hopes up, and then find out it doesn't fit and bash my hopes.

I don't think it will. Forester shares parts with the Impreza, both of them are similar to the legacy, but probably just different enough that it won't work.

If the seller is close by you might ask if you can check the fit. Just hold it up under the car next to yours and compare.

that is what I was thinking, just different enough so that it won't fit. I think lives quite a bit away, I don't know if I could do make it and see if it fits.

If you are talking about a pipe that replaces the cats, you will not have a problem. The Y pipe to the body pipe is the same on the forester and the legacy. The body pipe to the muffler is different and the muffler is also different.
