Leaking brake fluid

Featured Replies

Just replaced front brake caliper, rotor, pads on a 1985 GL hatch

147,000 miles 1.8 4WD

Everything fits like a glove and bleed lines

Brake power is great, but now after overnight sit, fluid reservoir is almost empty. No leaks at the tires. Before touching brakes I fill up, under MC looks like leakage but could be my spillage? When car is off and brake pedal depressed, it does not get totally stiff as I think it should? I will wash everything and try to pinpoint the leak

Any info on this brake system much appreciated

Front Calipers are the style with parking brake

Rear drums

Brakes are dual-diagonal. The hill holder holds pressure to the rear wheels whenever the clutch and rear brake are depressed.

Try holding down the clutch pedal when bleeding thebrakes.

If you have a front caliper off, bleed the rear brake on the opposite side at the same time, starting from the rear.

bleed all the way around RR, LF, LR, RR, and try pressing the clutch when do ing hte rear.

look for leaks at the hill holder.

Also check under the MC where it bolts to the brake booster. If the rear seal is leaking, the booster paint will have bubbled up. My RX is leaking there and my XT6 is starting to leak at the hill holder.
