Battery light and brake light on My 81 Subaru Brat, Intermitantly dies

I know this question has been asked many times within this forum, I searched and couldnt find the answer I was looking for. Just recently my Brake light and battery light come on and my engine intermimtantly dies. Im almost certian it is my voltage regulator but I want to be sure it is before I replace it. Is there anything else I can nor should check before I replace the regulator. This will be the vehicles 3rd Regulator. The first regulator is the one it came with, then a bout a year ago it was having a low charging issue so i replaced the regulator and NOW im about to installl another new one.

but like i said i want to be sure this will fix my problem before i do it. any thoughts???

all i can say is that a regulator does control the time and amount of charging a alternator does. also if a alternator is bad and sint charging. and the car uses up a batterty charge. the car will die when you do soemthing like hit the brakes or turn on the radio.

 

i cant speak about why your brake light comes on. but the battery light coming on would have to do with low alternator output.
