May 7, 201114 yr I was noticing the power rack and pinion is way smoother in Ea 82 cars, so was wondering if you could swap racks?? I was thinking of putting the Legacy, 93, rack in the Brat. I already have the whole car so was wondering if any knew????
May 7, 201114 yr it is wider. You may be able to hybrid inner and outer tie rod ends. You may have to make a hole in the crossmember for power steering lines. I, myself, and puttin a 98 legacy rack in an ea82. From my leftovers, i will be cramming ea82 suspension in the brat, which includes an ea82 manual rack
May 12, 201114 yr Author Could you put the rack from the 93 and use the tie rods for the Brat? Would it be the right width then?
May 12, 201114 yr the length should be relative to the inner tie rod. I would suppose brat inner tie rods for power steering would work with the impreza rack. Still, you may need to make the hole on the passenger side ft he crossmember, since the p/s lines come off that side, rather than the input shaft itself like the brat/ea82 have

I've put EJ racks into EA82 cars with all stock parts.
May 15, 201114 yr just to note a reference, a 98 legacy tack is the same witdth as an xt6, which would be the same width ans an ea82. The difference may just be the inner tie rods.
