I'm getting ready to build a ea82 to put in my brat and was wondering what I can do to give it more power? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm also looking for performance parts a weber and a set of 27/8.5/14s also. Thanks

Those 27 inch tires are going to bog down that motor alot. Makes 5th gear pretty much useless.

build up on an spfi block sinve it has better compression than a carb block, and use the carb manifold on the spfi block. Delta cams. the rest is ingenuity and invention, based on what you know about the dynamics of a 4 stroke(and subaru) engine, as there is not much available for these motors.

 

run the timing advaced, mid grade fuel, and an open exhaust

 

going from ea81 to ea82 alone is worth about 10-15 hp

I would but the main reason I'm using the ea82 is I have a running 85 wagon and I bought an 86 brat wih no motor trans or axles. Starting to wonder if I should sell the wagon and go with an ej22 swap.

Once you go EJ22 you'll never look back!

big difference between 98 hp and 130.

Fix up the wagon as a daily, until you come up with an ej22 and a 5spd for the brat.

 

that, or just swap the ea82 motor and trans in the brat for now, and then swpa ej22 when you find one.

 

perhaps you can fix the wagon, and sell or trade for a 5mt legacy or impreza to swao into the brat, with tans. You will have to hybrid an axle to do that.

 

the simplest thing to do is swap the ea82 trans into the brat to be compatible with the axles, and then contemplate an EJ
