May 31, 201114 yr Can anyone tell me what to use for a replacement windshield gasket for my 92' Loyale?? The old rubber and corner pieces are at the end of the line. PS: It WAS the oil pump but I ended replacing almost EVERYTHING on the front of the motor. BUT it runs like a clock now. Smooth as silk!!
May 31, 201114 yr hi, the loyale windshield is a glue on design, it is attached to the body with a urathane rubber adhesive , then a trim strip set and the corners are also held by the adhesive. check with some auto glass places for replacement trim sets or the suby dealer, they came in black , or with a chrome stripe in the trims, depending on the vehicle, so you can match what you have . the original trim pieces are position specific as are the corners, one side of the lip is bigger than the other on each piece and they can be installed wrong,, i know , a glass co put them on wrong on a car i had them replace the windshield. you can just put new trims on if you clean the area around the glass and apply new adhesive , to hold the trims in place till set use painters tape.
May 31, 201114 yr Author I am familiar with how the strip/corner clips go together. Looks like the rubber/clips are designed to be installed into the wet urethane when the windshield is installed. Both the rubber and corner clips have "anchors' that install into the urethane. I need a suitable replacement, but the sharp corners are a problem if yopu are not using the original design. You can get the parts from Subaru, but the the prices are OUTRAGEOUS. For example, the bottom front rubber strip is $53.-!!!! Not me brother, not me. CRL used to make a complete one piece replacement gasket but it has been discontinued. I might be able to have a salvage yard try to remove the parts for me???
